Nepal Travel Information

Nepal is a Himalayan Kingdom sandwiched between India and China. Home to eight out of fourteen highest peaks in the world and the birthplace of Lord Buddha it has become the favorite destination for trekking and touring for travel junkies from all over the globe. Guarded by regal Himalayas, here you will get a chance to experience unique traditional practices and cultural heritages which remain far from today’s modernity. The large no of people here follow Hinduism which is believed to the oldest religion which is guided by oral traditions. The country has many sacred temples, shrines and monuments and is regarded as the open museum and also said as the anthropological pilgrimage. The total population of the country is 23 million in which majority of the people are Indo Aryans and the remaining are of Mongolian origin.

The elevation of the country goes from 70m from the sea level to Mt Everest 8,848m which is the highest point in the earth. This altitudinal variation lies within the distance of 150km with climatic variations from Sub tropical to Alpine. The country is also known for the variety of ecosystem; the highest mountain ranges, thick tropical forests providing habitat to varied species of wildlife, furiously galloping snow fed rivers, forested hills and frozen valleys.

The people here mostly depend on agriculture for their livelihood. The main ethnic groups living in Kathmandu are Newars who mostly do business. Gurungs, Magars, Rai and Limbus are the warrior group and are famous around the world as Brave Gurkhas. If you want to experience life in a jiggering way then Nepal is the best destination.

Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trekking April 2013

We successfully trekked Jiri to Everest Base Camp and then back to Lukla, where we took a helicopter back to the city, all in 19 days.  I admit it was tough since I had not trekked before.  Still, it was an absolutely fantastic experience, I know in large part due to the care Wildpath Adventures took to ensure our safety and comfort.  Thanks Raj for complete airport to airport service and for showing us around Kathmandu.  Thanks to our most excellent guide who walked behind us the whole way ensuring our safety.  And thanks to our porter for carrying our load ahead of us.  After comparing notes with other Trekkers  we met along the way, I know with certainty that we were most fortunate to have chosen Wildpath Adventures to organize and guide our trek.

Jiri to EBC Trekking in 2013

I had a fantastic time trekking from Jiri to Everest Base Camp with Wildpath adventures. Raj really looked after us by showing us around Kathmandu and making sure that we were satisfied with his company's service. We were looked after from the moment we arrived to the time we left. The guides he provided with were some of the most experienced on the trail. Their experience, local knowledge and contacts ensured that we remained safe and provided us with options that were not available to other trekkers. I would not hesitate to recommend Wildpath Adventures to others.

Everest Basecamp Trekking 2012

I highly recommend trekking in the Himalayas- it is an amazing experience! If you would like a trek that is stress-free, then Raj is the perfect guide! Raj speaks English well (so you always know where and when you are going), and does his best to ensure his clients are always safe and happy.

Around Annapurna Trekking 2009

We were two tourists, November 2008: Àlvar and Tonyo. Rajan was not our guide, was the guide of Daniel Smith, a friend of Australia. We brought another guide. Our guide did friendship with other two guides, in of them, Rajan. So we did a group of four tourists and three guides. In a few days Rajan did the head of the group. He controlled us. He organized us. He did the plans. He did not work only for his customer, worked for all. This still has more merit.

Also it is necessary to highlight the attitude very helpful of the guide of the other tourist, a Canadian, Shusil Khanal.

So we, Àlvar and I, began to trust much more in Rajan than with our guide.

Then we discovered that Rajan is a educated man, very polite, sensitive, observant, kind and had always to do prank. He explained us all the referent to the altitude sickness. He gave us security in us same to attain the Thorung La. When we finished the trek, Rajan and Shusil stayed with us two days more. Our guide ran away.

I have an understanding and expression very bad of the English but with Rajan, with his patience, could have some good conversations. Three years after the trek still follow in contact for internet.

We had a lot of luck to find to Raj. Without him our trek had not been the same.

Raj, dherai dhannaybaad.

Mostes gràcies.

Thank you very much.

Lukla to Tengboche Trek

If you ask me who to recommend to be your guide in Nepal, I would definitely say Raj.

He is a good, professional and responsible tour leader who always put the safety, well being and comfort of his group first priority.

In Nov 2010, after completing the EBC (up to Tengboche) and returning to Lukla, we were hit by bad weather and were stranded there for more than 3 days. Raj did all he could and got us out on helicopters. Mind you, there were hundreds still stranded when the last few of us got away.

Besides being resourceful, Raj is also a knowledgeable tour leader. He knows a great deal in Nepal history as well as the current affairs. It’s always enjoyable to have a chat with him. I m sure you would agree with me when you get to meet and know this good nature person named Rajan Dhungana.
