Overview:

Balthali is a small village which links the Roshi and Ladku khola River. It stands at the altitude of 1730m in the plateau just behind Khopasi 40km away from Kathmandu. This beautiful village stays far behind touch of modernization and still practices the ancient traditions and cultures. The area surrounding Balthali is densely forested with colorful Rhododendron, Magnolia and Sal trees that ultimately open out to terraced fields. The view seen in the northern side of the village gets everybody dumbfounded by the snowy peaks of Dorje Lakpa, Manaslu, Mt Everest and Langtang. Many holy temples and monasteries like Namo Buddha, Indreshwar mahadev and Brahmayani temples are located in the vicinity carrying history dating back to several centuries.

This off beaten location has numerous trails that take us to many ethnic villages. Apart from these bird lovers can spend days exploring this paradise and discovering some rare species of migratory and local species of birds. This trip is ideal to know the culture, tradition and lifestyle of the village. The climatic condition of Balthali is warm in winter and cool in summer making it ideal for touring in anytime of the year. This proves that Balthali is a best and interesting trek nearby Kathmandu especially for those who want to experience rural culture, religion and lifestyle. Itinerary Detail

Balthali Village Tour Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival
In airport our local representative will receive you and get transferred to the hotel. In hotel you will freshen up have some food and drive to our office for the briefing of your trip.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing
In the morning we will have the lunch and start to explore the historical city of Kathmandu. The places we will pay our visit are the holy temple of Pashupatinath which is located in the bank of Bagmati and the stupa of Bodhanath which dates back to 7th century. We will also visit the monkey temple of Swoyambhunath situated in the hilltop looking Kathmandu city and also visit Patan city which is known for its fine arts and architecture. Drive back to hotel have dinner and get to bed.

Day 03: Drive to Changu Narayan(1500m) and then Hike to Nagarkot(2175m)
After having breakfast we will enjoy a one hour drive to Changu Narayan which is one of the oldest prehistoric temple located 20km east of the Kathmandu valley. Dedicated to Lord Bishnu Changu Narayan stands in a hilltop at the eastern end of the valley and is listed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Leaving Changu Narayan behind us we will trek to Nagarkot through the pristine pine forest along the ridge through the tranquil hamlets witnessing the splendid distant mountain panorama. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Hike to Dhulikhel(1440m)
Early in the morning we will walk up to view tower in Nagarkot to witness the splendid view of sun rising over the snow capped Himalayas. After this we will have our breakfast and start our walk through the pine forests and enjoying the amazing landscape. We will continue our walk through the paddy fields and small hamlets. Six hours of our continuous walk will take us to Dhulikhel which is an ancient town situated 30km east of Kathmandu. Dhulikhel is a traditional Newar town which offers an speactacular mountain view of Dorje Lakpa, Gauri Shankar, Hiunchuli and Langtang Lirung. The old part of the town is even more interesting place to visit with some traditional Nepalese buildings and Temples. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 05: Hike to Namo Buddha (1982m) and then to Balthali(1730m)
After having breakfast we will walk for around three hours along the villages, terraced fields to Namo Buddha which is situated on the hilltop above Panauti. Namo Buddha is a holy place for Buddhist where a Buddha saved a life of dying tiger by giving his own flesh. From Namo Buddha another three hours of walk will take us to Balthali village. Balthali village offers the great Mountain View. Stay overnight at Balthali resort. 

Day 06: Explore Balthali
Today we will visit the Tamang village of Dada Gaun which is dominated by Buddhist community. The people here are very traditional and are far from the mordenization. Again we will walk to Pada Gaon(2100m) which offers the spectacular mountain vista in the north and dense forest of Mahabharat. Following the banks of Ladku River we will hike back to the resort.

Day 07: Walk to Panauti(1400m) and then drive back to Kathmandu
After having breakfast we will continue our walk to the characteristic Newari village of Panauti which is wedged between Punyamata and Roshi streams. This triangle shaped village has idol of serpent ( naga) standing on the three corners to protect from floods. Panauti has many temples and among them the most worshipped is Indershwor Mahadev temple which was built in 1294AD. The walk from Balthali to Panauti demands six hours. From Panauti we will catch a drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 08: Farewell
At the time of your flight, transfer to Tribhuwan International Airport for you onward Journey.
