Overview:
Pulchowki is yet another paradise
for bird lovers providing habitat to different species of Birds. Pulchowki is
situated at the altitude of 2760m and 18kms southeast of Kathmandu. a short
drive to Godavari and a few hours of uphill hike takes us directly to
Pulchowki. In Godavari we can see spotted Forktail and various species of
flycatchers. The hillside is densely forested with an impressive presence
different species of flora. Bird watching in Pulchowki is very rewarding as
about 90species of birds have been seen in the vicinity. In a clearly fair
weather we too can witness the distant vista of Himalayas from Dhaulagiri to
the Everest. Some of the species of birds that can be seen here are Redheaded
Trogan, Red flanked Bluetail, White browed Bush Robin, Dark throated Thrush,
Grey winged and White collated blackbirds, Buff barred, Black faced Warblers,
Green tailed Sunbird, Cutia, Blue winged Minla and many others.
Other than this the wetlands in the
valley, the banks of Manohara river and Bagmati River which makes its way into
the valley from Shivapuri Hill and makes its exit at Chobhar gorge are the
ideal habitat of Waders and Waterfowls. With more than 40species of birds
dependent on wetlands Taudaha attracts huge flocks of migratory birds too.
