Overview:
Covering the area of 932sq km Chitwan is situated 160kms away from Katmandu. You can get there within a 4 to 5hours of bus drive or by 45min of scenic airstrip. Chitwan alone provides habitat to 450species of birds. Huge flocks of Common and Deomoiselle Cranes can be seen here between the month of March and May and October. In Chitwan Bird watching can be done from an elephant back or from Jeep. If you want you too can walk by foot accompanied by a guide or an Ornithologist. Apart from birds Chitwan too provides habitat to endangered wild animals and amphibians. Some of the major species of birds found here are Blue Indian Roller, Stork billed Kingfishers, Bengal florican, Asian Paradise flycatcher, Bee eaters and Cormoran.
