Overview

Cho Oyu with the altitude of 8201m is the sixth highest mountain in the world standing high above the Tibetan plains in the Nepal- Tibet border. Since it is easily accessible with less objective dangers blended with uncomplicated terrain; Cho Oyu is technically straightforward and is safer to climb.  The north face of Cho Oyu is the classic Himalayan climb in the Tibet giving an ideal opportunity for mountaineers who want to test themselves to extreme altitude. First climbed by Austrian climbers  S. Moechler, H. Tichy along with P. Dawa Lama in 1954 the summit offer 360degree panorama of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Chamlang, Ama Dablam along with other peaks of Khumbu region.

From Kathmandu we will drive through friendship and enter Tibet via Zhangmu and then drive to Old Tingri from where the real trek begins. The trek goes through the Tibetan plateau which takes us to Chinese Base Camp which is situated at the altitude of 5000m. The climb from here mostly comprises of low angles snow slopes up to 30degree which takes us to advance base camp at 5700m. Though the base camp is established in Rongbuk glacier at 5180m the real climb starts from Camp I which is set at 6,400m. While climbing we will use three camps on the mountain; the highest is set at the elevation of  7,500m which ultimately takes  us to summit within 5to 8 hours under normal circumstances.

CAMP I (6400m):

ToDay   we walk for around 6-8hours via Gyabrag glacier and then climb steeply through thick snow and ultimately arrive to Camp I.

CAMP II (7,000M):

From camp I the route goes through the snow ridge and we will walk through the fixed ropes for around 7-9 hours to Camp II.

CAMPIII (7,500m):

We will continue the walk through the snow for around 3-4hours to camp III.

SUMMIT DAY  :

It takes around 6-8hours to reach summit. The walk is quite easy through the snow and rock and altitude is the only thing you have to tackle.
